Ailya's sensitive ears had picked up the commotion coming from the opposite end of the portal. She took a look behind her, noting that the twins and the young male were still engaged in conversation. Focusing her attention back on the task before her Ailya, not knowing where she would end up at the opposite side of the portal, dispelled the magic on her wings and summoned her glaive from its sub-space hiding. She flexed her back muscles, which were sore from keeping her wings tightly close, and charged into the portal.
She was surprised by her surroundings. Ailya had expected a slightly advanced world with some technological knowledge, and thus the commotion. The twins had played with her mind once more, sending her back wards instead. Her dark purple wings loomed over those beneath her, forming a shadow against the ground. There were two, one already wounded and the other taking her fellow travelers captive. She wasted no time in taking action.
With one swift movement, Ailya flew close enough so that her six foot glaive could reach the man's throat. She darkened her gave, her narrow eyes threatening the figure. "Let them go."
=============================================
The twins managed a slightly evil smile. "You know that we cannot tell you. It is for you to find out." The stepped back from Skyie, disappearing into the nothingness, and leaving him alone with the portal.

Rivalen looked in horror at the being before him. It looked to him equal parts demon and angel. He was not prepared to release a sick woman, and potentially a sick, or possibly idiot boy into the possession of such a creature. Still, the burning smell coming from his chest plate was enough to remind him that he had already made mistakes today...
He spoke as cordially as he could bring himself to: "I cannot in good conscience simply turn this poor woman over to you. Dibin's magic, or possibly that of the rift as caused some sort of illness. I have a responsibility to try and help her. If you can prove your intentions are noble, and that you can help her better than I, then by all means take her. If however, you wish to threaten me and potentially harm her...
At this he calmly brought his blade against hers. Had it been at proper speed, it would have been an excellent parry. At this speed it was a message.
...Then I suggest you return to whatever hell or heaven this rift leads to. Because where you are now, the sick and young are not to be endangered by anyone."

Rachel tried to scream. Someone had touched her, and her skin burned from it; touch was a thing she loathed, especially from strangers. There was a bloody man, someone pulling her about, and now, NOW, a lady whom she had bumped into, nay, touched, was not human. Whatever she was, it wasn't appealing, and she was threatening people with a giagantic sharp weapon. So Rachel screamed.
It didn't work. Her throat gurgled. Foam and bloody came up heavily and she was forced to double over and bring up a good amount. But the urge to scream was not satisfied, and her throat tried again. She managed a squeaking noise which developed into a gurgle-scream. She pulled away from the man and the demon and tried to run. Immediately, Rachel tripped and landed rough in the dirt, and began to sob.
Henry gained his footing once more and brushed off his messed up hoody. "Hey, who do you think you are just pulling a bloke around? Someone better bloody well answer me." He frowned at Rivalen and Ailya, shaking his head. "And you two, knock it off, you're upsetting her." Henry made an approach towards Rachel, who flinched backwards.

Rivalen looked over at the girl. She was in trouble. She seemed scared of all of them. Even the boy. And the boy seemed protective of her...
Fine then, I'll put my weapon down. Someone has to make a show of good faith. Now it's your turn. Will you attack an unarmed man and a sick woman?

Ailya held her gaze as she lowered herself down to the ground. The force of her coming down spread air in a ten meter radius around the group, causing dead leaves to fly off the ground. The second her toes gently touched the ground, her dark wings folded in and disappeared. The glaive was still pointed at the man, she would not put her weapon away so quickly.
She had decided not to answer to his question regarding that she return to the hell she come from. It was unwise of her to unfurl her wings in the first place without her knowing what time they had been transported to. Now she had just created an awful lot of work for her in order to cover up for her mess. But, she was digressing. She needed to get her companions, especially the girl, out of his reach before he found out more than she had already shown him.
"These are my traveling companions. I do not plan on attacking them," she replied, keeping her weapon perfectly level with his neck. "But I have become accustomed to not trusting those whom I do not know." Ailya tried to form speech in his style, covering for her earlier mistake.
Ailya noticed the girl coughing, trying to search through her knowledge of old diseases which she could be affected by. In her time period, there was little that couldn't be solved, but many of the cures still had serious risks. In order to properly treat her, Ailya would need to get her away from this man. She kept a small medical device with her at all times just in case she had come down with something from the past, but she usually ended up using it on Henry more often than herself, thanks to her immune system.
"Let them go. I will not repeat myself again."
=============================================
Ostrick had been running as fast as his legs could go. His small stature wasn't really helping him, but fortunately, the castle keep wasn't that far off from where he had been shooed off. At his full sprinting speed, he had gotten about half way there in ten minutes. But, by now he was exhausted. Stopping to take a breath and get a second wind, he thought of something.
He started digging through his achemist's kit for the ingrediants he would need. He knew that he wasn't supposed to forge anything when Dibin wasn't around, but from the look of the situation when he had left, he wasn't sure if he would be in good shape to begin with when he returned. Right now, his priority was getting to the castle to alert the Queen.
He lay the objects on the grass, setting them in a sand circle. Pressing his hands to the ground, a flash of light appeared, leaving behind a clear bottle with green liquid: a speed potion.
Now all he had to do was get there.

Rivalen was not getting the peice of mind he had envisioned from this beast. But she wasn't flying anymore, which had to be considered less threatening. Whatever manner of creature she was, she seemed protective of these people rather then hostile. Still, the girl was getting worse, not better. Also, the angel or demon or whatever this woman was, may just feel protective of her prey; her property. He needed more information.
"You there, boy(whistle).Speak if you can find the courage. Would this creature harm you? Would she harm the girl?"
The whistle caught the attention of Apollo who began circling. Rivalen looked up quickly, and then brought his vision down to meet Ailya's gaze. Feeling more secure, knowing that Apollo could back him up even while he was unarmed... Rivalen took a further chance.
"I'll back away, slowly. But if the girl or the boy are harmed, your life forfeit."

Skyie was throught the portal and standing of the opposite side, his back facing the chaoic scene. The whistle caught his attention and he turned around, unsure of what had happened. It always took Skyie a longer time to pass though the portals. He had to ensure they were unharmed by his subdle, disrupting aura. The boy trotted over the Ailya's side and held on her robe hem. He looked to the knight in armour as if he were from a book he had read. In fact... "Are you Sir Rivalen?" the child asked.

Henry huffed in protest. No one was listening to him, let alone answering him. If he could find the courage? He'd been bloody well speaking the entire time.
"Courage? Bloody buggering hell. She's not gonna hurt me or... what's her face," Henry fumbled as he reaslised he didn't know this person's name. She was having a bit of a fit, too.... "But she might hurt you."
He scoffed and went back to trying to help Rachel, who shoved him off, and coughed a few more times, more decisively, before stating: "Who are you?" When she noticed the younger boy come up behind Ailya, she widened her eyes again, and surpressed another scream. What was such a young child doing with such a dangerous woman?

Now there was a child involved. This was falling into anarchy faster then Rivalen could keep up. Still, one bit of good news. The boy, however stupid he might have or might have not been, trusted the creature. Rivalen was running out of options. The girl was ill, and now apparently even more terrified. The boy, was threatening him on the demon's behalf. Perhaps worst of all, some mystery child had shown up. If he trusted the demon, the boy would most likely be unharmed and he could escape with the child. The girl though...
Damn! If only Apollo was big enough to knock away that glaive... No, if he struggled the demon was likely to knock to poor bird to the ground and quite possibly kill him.
Rivalen shook himself internally and sheathed his sword.
"Your lucky I have a fondness for wings." He stepped out of the way. "Do as you will." He looked to the small child. "Yes, boy, I am Sir Rivalen. How you know that, I do not know but if you understand this,"He gestured to the rift." "I am willing to be instructed by a youth. Come with me and we will leave the... madam, with her companions." And he took the boy's hand. As they began to walk away he looked over his shoulder to the demon.
"Remember, your life is forfeit if either of them is harmed."
And he walked over to the rift with the boy. Listening intently.

Ailya had let her glaive fall to her side as the man walked away from her, not letting her guard down while doing so. She would keep it at her side until she knew for certain that he was out of her way. The fact was she wasn't afraid of him or worried that he would hurt any one, she had seen he had been quite against that in their brief conversation. It was more of a way to keep him guessing, on his toes. She couldn't afford not to look imposing, and unfortunately, telekinesis didn't just materialize to something threatening.
She turned to look behind her to see that the portal had closed off. She quickly checked her watch, made note of the time, and reminded herself that she needed to start her calculations soon. There was never any definite of how long they would stay in a place, sometimes hours sometimes days, but usually no longer than a week. Whatever the case was this time around she couldn't afford to loose time and make another mistake.
Looking down at Henry and the girl she let her face relax slightly from its hardened gaze. "We should get moving before the bloody old man starts asking questions. Henry, start scouting off to the west, we don't want to head in the same direction as the other company. Girl... I still don't know your name yet but there will be time for that later."
Ailya checked once more to make sure that the man and child were fairly distant and the wizard too busy being unconscious to notice what she was about to do. She pulled out her medical device, looking very much like a cigar tube turned pen, and knelt down beside the girl. "We need to move quickly, so there's no time for argument like there was back in the portal realm. Tell me what you were diagnosed with and I'll fix it up for you quickly."

Rachel peered up at the lady in continuing terror. She was going to touch her. This was just too much. Who knew what she was planning with that pen thing? But prone to not being able to think for herself, she answered gurglingly. "Tubur--culosi--" She began coughing once more, bringing up more blood onto her brown-red handkerchief.
Henry, in the mean time, took the opportunity to spin on his heel and take off into the distance. Sometimes, he truly disliked being with other people, and when he couldn't get anyone's attention, not even an ounce of respect, he hated it.
He stormed through the underbrush along the side of the road, looking haphazardly around for landmarks, other humans, non-humans... and anything shiny fallen into the ditch.

Skyie's childhood dreams had just materialized in front of him. A knight, a real knight in shining armor and the noble man was giving him attention. The grin on Skyie's face was ear to ear. Maybe he could use this man as his next father or mentor. He was in a stable place now. He looked up to the nobleman and beamed. Such an honor to stand in his shadow. "It was a portal of time. It is no longer open...what you see is the energy left over from the opening in time." he said, reaching a hand out to touch the dissipating ripples, "Another one will open again someday. Until then, we can just wait!"
Skyie summoned his ability to manipulate energy to absorb the last bits of kinetic energy flowing from the portal. The energy of ages kept him young. When he withdrew his hand, he felt the warm tingle of the earths life blood. She was younger younger here, less drained by the billions of feet above her.

Rivalen looked at the child with curiosity. The boy seemed to have such intimate knowledge of the magic. More so even then Dibin whose fixation bordered on obsession. How is that possible for one so young?
"My boy, forgive my forwardness but my curiosity has been piqued one time too many today. Also, you are apparently the least hostile of the... recent arrivals in my time. What's your name, child? How is it one so young could be so wise? You don't seem old enough to have had your first boar hunt. What is the nature of... time travel would one call it? Why would anyone risk tampering with such primal forces?"
Rivalen watched as the last of the portal's energies disappeared.
"And perhaps most importantly. Why my time? Why here and now?"

Skyie raised a hand and pointed the the world above, "Skyie, the demonic word for light bringer. And I am not wise as much as I am well versed! Wise makes me sound old. I am defiantly no old. Old people are old. But I am not as little as you think."
Skyie's innocent visage faded into an eerie look, on far too mature to be on a face to juvenile. He turned away from Rivalen and toward the eastern horizon, "Time travel is a gift. We are able to travel to places that are new and alien only because they are not of our own time. The magic man wouldn't have been able to control this portal anyways. These portals of time are already controlled, by the twins. They are nice enough but ask for thing so you can travel. There is no risk in using the portals...well not much risk..."
Skyie's smile returned as he crouched to inquire an insect on the ground.
"Besides all that, we came here to find a new adventure. Haven't you ever wanted to see new things and go places you never thought possible! That is how I live! Any child's dream! This is where we stopped this time. In your time. We didn't choose it, we just arrived."
(OOC: FYI -- I made that whole demon thing up. Though it would make the story interesting)

Rivalen, despite himself, felt excitement at the words of Skyie. Such adventure, was in truth, exactly what he craved. Unfortunately, as he'd seen today, he was already too old. Adventure was for the young, and Rivalen couldn't even catch a couple bandits. Pathetic thieves! He shook his head.
"I hope you find what your looking for Skyie and I wish I could come with you. You said it yourself though, it's a child's dream. And although you may claim to be old. You may even be old, I know what matters is that I FEEL old. Every bone in me screams it. Every muscles in me pleads with me to admit it. I once loved adventure, and I have many stories to tell in my old age. These days though, I'd be little help on any quest."
He looked over at the winged woman. She stood over the sick girl, but Rivalen couldn't see what was happening. His suspicion and frustration roared to life again. He wanted to leap in and...
No, no. She'd shown no hositility, only misunderstanding. He took a moment to calm himself. Old age may have slowed his sword but it had also tempered his actions with wisdom. He looked to Skyie. The boy seemed to know much.
"But I am still young enough to be once again curious young friend. The demon, or angel, or woman, or whatever she is. I do not believe that she came for adventure. What do you know of her?"

Heather had seen the unfoldings of the new group of people. After Dibin had been subdued, she felt satisfyed, but there were still, and always, things to be tended to. She had to have them away quickly, lest the mage awaken and grow in temper. She dipped down, carefully avoiding Apollo, whose natural instincts would be to protect his owner and attack her.
Wind flying over her feathers, she pondered briefly what could be done to have them move faster. Putting the boy in danger would be unuseful; it seemed he was not essential to the crew. Perhaps it would be best simply to speak to the wisest of them. Judging from their exterior character, none were very wise. All were manipulable and quick to anger. Except perhaps the child...
Ah, the child.
[glow=black,2,300]"Boy, is not the feild tempting? Come, chase the butterflies. Follow my shadow."[/glow]
With that, Heather swooped nearby the man and child, and headed east, drawing them away from immediate danger.

Ailya let a small smile out of her. Tuberculosis was a very old disease according to her time and she could easily rid the girl of it. The only thing that held her back was the twins. They had obviously done something to her to make this disease worsen. If she got rid of it all together they could punish her severely next time she saw them. On the other hand, she would have to watch this girl suffer and die. Dealing with the twins would have to be worth it in that case. Not to mention that she would owe her a favor. She rather liked keeping those on hand.
"This will get rid of the pain, but it will be another ten hours or so until it completely goes away. The medication doesn't work as quickly as you'd like it to I suppose, but its better than nothing." Ailya tried to have a polite beside manner, but it wasn't working out very well. Remembering the side affects she added, "You won't be able to speak for the ten hours though, it renders your vocal cords useless. I wouldn't recommend eating anything heavy either."
Hitting a key on the side of the tube, it opened up into an intricate holographic data pad. She quickly inputed the necessary data and closed it back up. It made a small clicking noise, reassuring her it had done as she asked. "Just push this end," Ailya pointed at the opposite end the hologram had come out, "into your skin, preferably on your arm." She handed the device over to her, still trying to be as polite as possible.

The knights words caught him by surprise and instead of showing concern, he laughed.
"You're old and that stops you! That's silly! You are never too old to start something new! Besides..." Skyie looked at Rivalen and his eyes glowed an unusual shade of blue, as if they glowed. He was summoning some of his otherworldly magic, the kinds that kept him young. Skyie put up an aura around Rivalen. It would make him feel younger the longer he stayed around Skyie. .."You should come with me. I promise fun! What is lame about time travel?"
The voice caught his attention. He knew if was from the bird. He looked to it and began to follow. Skyie took off running into the field and followed the owl. He looked back only to shout,"Come! Our first adventure awaits!"

As the young child spoke, and ran off, the excitement in Rivalen's heart coursed into his veins. Suddenly he had the energy of when he was but a squire. He leapt after the boy like a gazelle. My god! It felt wonderful! Adventure, pride, youth! All the things Rivalen wasn't finished with.
He whistled and Apollo came down to fly just a few feet above his head and to his right. He raced the bird, a feat he hadn't attempted since his first days with his old companion and even then he couldn't have done in full armour!
"Wait Skyie! What adventure, where are we going!" Shouted Rivalen ahead of him, but in truth it was just curiousity. Like this, Rivalen would run anywhere!

OOC: I am so freaking sorry for taking so long to reply. Hopefully this is adequate. IC: Rachel gave the girl an incredulous look. She had no idea what to make of her. In the five minutes she had known her, she had been rude, ignorant, and rash, not to mention exceedingly bossy. And here she was instructing some girl she did not know to put a needle into her own arm? An unknown needle? As if she were a school child.
"Excuse me. But ---" yet another coughing fit overtook her. At this rate, she was going to loose more blood than she could afford to, and who know when the next time she would see her aunt would be? In an uncharacteristic fit of rage, Rachel snatched the needle away from Ailya and touched it to her arm, expecting a shock of metal into her skin. When it didn't happen, she hit it against her arm harder.
Heather floated happily along in front of the two men, letting her shadow create patterns on the long grass below her. She knew she would have to veer to a safer path soon, as the longer the grass became, the sharper the edge of the blade. She banked sharply to the left, heading for the glade of trees nearby. Heather knew there would be something waiting for them there.
