Hey, wasn't sure where to put this... But I just thought I'd say, if anyone needs help with weapons for a game, or weapons for their character... I can help you out. I'm something of a weapons expert, having put much research into the subject (my fascination is a strange one, being that I am a radical pacifist), and I can give you recommendations based on what you need. Just give me a description, and I can recommend something for you. Got an assassin character who needs something small and light, with an integral silencer? Try a black-market .22 Ruger MK II. Got an Arctic Buffalo to hunt? Or some body armour to shoot through? How about a .454 Casull Raging Bull? Or, seen a cool gun from a movie and want to use one for your own character, not being sure what it is? Jason Statham's gun during the hospital scene in Crank is the stereotypical IMI Mark IXI Desert Eagle Magnum (.50 Action Express). Spike Spiegel's gun? Jericho 941, commonly referred to as the "Baby Eagle".
Basically, I just want a way to help out, and figured that, as this is one of my strange talents, I can give my input where necessary. Sometimes, it's important to know how many shots a gun holds, how powerful the round is, the range, etc. I was thinking about the Battle Royale game, it it got me thinking that we're going to need a lot of firearms research to make a balanced, realistic, varied game. Well, anyone needs help with this, I'm your man.

That's amazingly helpful. I'll definately keep it in mind. For the Battle Royale, we will need various weapons. So if you have any suggestions for the kind of light fire arm that they might give to children with no experience with guns, I'd love to hear about it.

I've been looking into pistols for now, I can find other, larger things later. There are a number of weapons that would be suited for a child/teen to use, based on their size. Most of these are originally meant for "concealed carry", but in this case they would be the equivalent of a normal gun to a regular sized person. I'm not sure how much technical detail you want, or if you just want my recommendations. See, I find this stuff fascinating, but many people do not...
Semi-automatic pistols are generally preferable to revolvers, due to the fact that the trigger pull on a revolver is much harder than that on a semi-auto pistol. To this end, I've found a number of suitable models... The Walther PPK (007's gun) is nice and small, and well suited. The BERSA Thunder 380 is very similar. The Glock 26 ("Baby Glock") is a reliable standby, as most Glocks are.
All these guns were picked because they are cheap (under $300) and easy to obtain, therefore expendable. Perfect for giving to a 14 year old kid who you never plan to see again (yes, that made me shudder too).
I'll find some bigger hardware later, if you're pleased with the progress so far... Also, I can give you statistics for all these guns, ammo capacity, range, etc. Not sure how much detail you need.

Good old Glocks. My friend Adam was insane over Glocks. They were his gun of choice.
This is wonderful. You are a gem, and I am going to keep you forever.
Now that we've got that minature list, think along the lines of impossible for a child to use type weapons. We'll probably only have one in the game, something superiorily destructive and difficult for a 14 year old to get a grip on. You're like an interactive encyclopedia of guns. This is like a candy store. *bounce*

If I can suggest your insane super weapon that no one would be able to handle properly? A weapon of complete fiction (thankfully we are not limited by too much reality) and a running gag with some of my other friends, a bear-trap gun
That's right, a gun which fires bear-traps
I'd imagine it's range is about 35 feet and it has to be reloaded after every shot. Still, it's pretty awesome. Just a recommendation.

LMAO. Always hilarious. Maybe, someone will have a bear trap as a weapon, thanks to you.

I'm not a huge fan of Glocks... Not stylish enough for me. I'm a Beretta man, myself, when I'm forced to pick one line. Glocks are damn reliable though.
Now, I'm going to look into some smaller rifles... But until then... Something a kid would have a real hard time using, eh? Heh heh heh, well... We could give them something like an M2 Browning Heavy Machine gun... With a tripod, the damn thing weighs 128 lbs! The recoil would be almost impossible... Or if we're looking for something a little easier to carry, but still damn hard to fire, give 'em something like a Winchester Model 21 Double Barreled 12 Gauge Shotgun... The recoil from firing that thing is liable to break a 14 year old's shoulder... But, they'll get one good shot out of the deal too.

At least one good shot... and in the movie, the shot gun was obtained by the super evil one, and he could use it... We shall see, we shall see. I like the impossible to carry weapon. That's pretty evil.

Yeah, you could get a team of like 4 kids to haul it around, maybe... But firing it would be absolute hell. If you wanted to be even meaner, give it to 'em without the tripod... Makes it a tiny bit lighter, but very, very close to impossible to fire. (If they do, watch out... the actual size of a .50 cal round is ridiculous.)

just tape the trigger down and run for the brick wall. lol. (Not likely, hmm? I know. But I enjoy being oblivious to physics.)

He he he, that would be mildly hilarious... I'm reasonably sure the recoil would end up spinning the gun in the direction of the running children...

Ew. I make myself shudder.
Anyway, if we wanna give these kids rifles, basically we can just give them small-bore hunting rifles, which are still quite dangerous against a human target. The Japanese have their own Type 38 Cavalry Carbine which would work as well.

Stuck with that gun you have to build a makeshift bunker or something to ground the damn thing,
Or you could just anchor it with the body of the first coulple victims

This is all very enjoyable, but I don't need a huge assortment of guns. For those of you who have read the BR book or seen the movie, a vast majority of the "weapons" are household objects, like wire hangers, or flashlights. So. Out of a list of 42 kids, maybe 5 -7 seven will have guns, an additional 3 with explosives, and the rest are given other things. Maybe one or two will get a sword.
